Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade originally was intended to allow players to be only Ork War machine. The free version will give access to most classes and factions.
Behaviour Digital announce that players will be able to play 4 out of 5 classes in the free-to-play version of Eternal Crusade. The only class not available for access is the Air Assault. Character progression also comes at a third of the regular speed. If players who opted to get the game for free decide they would like to buy it, then they may purchase it for the regular price of $20/£15. You may also buy $20 of in-game currency. Players who bought the game previously will receive some gifts. This will include a copy of the game that they can give to a friend.
The versions currently available for Warhammer 40000: Eternal Crusade are:
- Free Version – 4 of the 5 available classes, normal character progression. Purchasing a total of 20,000 in game credits will also upgrade your account. You will gain extra progression upon upgrading
- Squadron Edition – Full game with 20,000 Rogue Trader Credits. Also upgrades the Free version. Progression is 3 times faster.
- Imperium Edition – Full game with 20,000 Rogue Trader Credits and 4 packs of weapons and armour (one pack for each faction). Progression is 3 times faster.
The original plan for the free version was to limit it to the Orks, but they changed this to being able to play all factions (except one) to reach a broader audience. There will be free updates & expansions on top of this in the future. Since you progress normally on the free version, the difference will be set aside until you upgrade.
The game is currently available on Steam. Are you excited about the free version of Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade? Are you going to utilize the free to play module of the game or stay with the paid version? Let us know in the comments or on our forums.
