2015’s Star Wars: Battlefront’s Season Pass is now 100% discounted on all platforms.
There were a lot of issues with the EA’s revival of Star Wars Battlefront, but one of the bigger issues is how shallow the game is content wise. EA’s decision to make the season pass completely free to everyone, however, will help make up for this shortcoming. The season pass is currently free “For a limited time only” on PS4, Xbox, and Origin, with no time frame for how long it will stay free for. The Season Pass does require Xbox Live Gold to be free on the Xbox, while the Pass is free without any hurdles on its other two platforms.
The pass gives players access to the four DLC packs the game has, which are the Outer Rim, Bespin, the Death Star and the Rogue One DLC packs. All up they contain 16 new maps and 4 new game modes for players to enjoy, as well as a “Shoot First” emote exclusive to Season Pass owners (which feels very exclusive now). The game’s sequel, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 won’t have a season pass though, with all future content for the game being completely free.
EA hasn’t given any word on how long the Season Pass will stay on sale for, but they’ve already done this before with Titanfall’s season pass. Once that became free though, it never went back. The parallels between the two games are similar as well: both have relatively small online communities and had a sequel coming out soon. Making Battlefront’s Season Pass free could serve to revitalize Battlefront’s online community while everyone eagerly awaits Star Wars: Battlefront 2 to release on November 17.
