Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler is a comic adventure game about the biggest, roughest pirate in the Azurbbean and his struggle to become a noble swashbuckler. This game was developed by Venture Moon Studios and published by Alliance Digital Media, a distributor, developer and publisher of interactive video games and gaming products. They have also created a game called Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island, which has the same type of gameplay as Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler.
This game follows a wannabe captain pirate named Duke Grabowski, mostly muscle and not too much brain. He wants to become captain of the pirate ship Brazen Blade. Duke is challenged by his crew to win the love of three woman. Slewface, the villain of this story, came up with this quest for Duke. Slewface wants to be captain and doesn't want Duke to be in his way. When Duke gets to shore, he realizes that his muscle tactics will not work for woo-ing the ladies of the island. He must learn to be gentle and heartwarming to every female he meets. This will not be an easy task for Swashbuckler Duke.
This is your point-and-click adventure you know from games like The Curse of Monkey Island and their own Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island. Enjoy tropical locations, solve amusing inventory and dialog puzzles, while enjoying some good ole pirate mischief. You control everything with just one mouse either right-clicking or left-clicking. Throughout the game, I did not encounter anything that would make a person rage-quit. I would say that this game is a very relaxing game. If you want to just kickback and enjoy a good comedy, this is the game for you!
Performance & Graphics
The graphics for this game are something that I would think any computer, laptop would be able to handle. My system specs are little too overpowered for this type of game.
I ran the game on...
- Windows 10 Pro edition,
- A Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU at 4.00HGz
- 16GB of RAM
- GeForce GTX 980 4GB
- 64-bit operating system
The game only requires...
- Windows 7
- 2GHz Quad Core
- 4GB RAM
- GeForce 670 2GB or equivalent
- 3GB of space available.
As you can see, you don't need anything too crazy to operate this game!
One of the first things I noticed about this game was the voice acting. The actors did pirate voices quite accurately, and it was highly entertaining to listen to. You could really envelope yourself in the story this way. Another key factor was the sound effects throughout the game. For a game that's as short as this one, you need all the entertainment you can get out of them. That would include music, artwork, you name it! I would just like to say that the soundtrack for this game was on point, and really made you feel like you were sailing the seas as a Pirate searching for treasure in the Caribbean.
This is a very relaxing game and one you can complete in two to four hours. If you love pirate humor and witty jokes, go ahead and add this to your library. Great story, easy gameplay, and a blast to play. Overall, this is a game that most audiences would enjoy. Who doesn't love a quick game to pass the time?
