“You are reborn!”
In 1999, Crystal Dynamics released the highly enjoyable adventure game Soul Reaver: Legacy of Kain, which went on to great success on PlayStation and Sega Dreamcast. But, as you may know, the series has since gone dormant, with the developer working on higher-end projects like Marvel’s Avengers and the Tomb Raider games. But a new rumor suggests that the adventure for the Soul Reaver may yet continue with a remaster.
On the latest episode of the XboxEra Podcast, co-founder Nick Shpeshal indicated that a remaster was in the works at Crystal Dynamics, with an announcement for the game set for some time this year.
When asked whether it was a remake or a remaster, Nick noted it was a “remaster” along the lines of what BluePoint did for Demon’s Souls on PlayStation 5 last year.
Nick noted that the announcement could happen either at PAX in September, or later this year during The Game Awards. But either way, fans should be thrilled.
It’d be great to see this series back in action again. A new game would be hot, but we’ll certainly take a remaster. Check out its original trailer below!
